Do I need a partner to learn to dance?You don't need a partner to start dancing at In Motion Ballroom Dance. Whether you're single, part of a couple, or have a partner who isn't interested in dancing, you are welcome to join us. Our supportive community and friendly environment cater to dancers of all ages and backgrounds. Come and enjoy the joy of dance with us, either solo or with a partner!

What clothes do I wear for my dance lessons?We suggest you to your dance lesson wearing what you know you can most easily move in, and possibly sweat in.

What shoes do I wear to a dance lesson?It's advised that you come wearing shoes that have little on the sole so you don't stick to the floor. Recommended (but not required) : Latin shoes, dress shoes, wedding shoes. Not Recommended: Flip flops, sneakers, stilettos.

How long does it take to learn to dance?The pace of your learning depends on how quickly you pick things up, your desired skill level, and the number of dances you want to master. Learning a few basic steps only takes a handful of lessons. To feel confident dancing to any music with any partner, it typically takes about 6 months to a year. After your first lesson, your instructor will recommend the fastest way to achieve your dancing goals.

What dances do you teach?We teach all types of partner dancing! Ballroom dancing includes various styles such as the waltz, tango, Latin, swing, country western, and many more. To learn more about the dances we offer, visit our Dances We Teach page.

What can I expect on my first lesson?Your first visit to our school allows you to explore our studio, experience our teaching style, and ensure it's a comfortable environment for you to learn in. It's also an opportunity for our instructors to understand your learning style and provide tailored recommendations for the best possible experience. Even if you've never danced before, you'll be dancing in your very first lesson.

What is the easiest ballroom dance to learn?Although we suggest learning a few dances after mastering the basics, most dance styles are quite simple to learn. Can you teach ballroom dancing to beginners?Absolutely! In Motion Ballroom Dance Company has the resources and knowledge to walk you by hand to exceed. Even if you feel like you have two left feet and no rhythm, you can learn to dance. The hardest part is taking the first step through the door. Just show up, and we'll handle the rest!

Do you teach ballroom dancing for kids?Absolutely! Learning ballroom dancing at a young age is fantastic. It helps develop coordination, manners, and social skills. We recommend starting ballroom dancing around age 5.

Is ballroom dancing good exercise?Absolutely! Ballroom dancing is excellent exercise. Whether you want to lose weight, stay fit, or rehabilitate, dancing offers great low-impact benefits. It's also one of the few exercises proven to help prevent degenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and dementia. Whatever your health goals, dancing can contribute significantly.
